Cuando era un niño había un local frente a casa donde vendían licuados o batidos de frutas. Tenían un traga niquel o rocola junto al mostrador donde entre mucha musica cubana me atraían dos discos: Bill Halley y sus Cometas. Me hacía saltar de regocijo el "Rock around the Clock" y otra que nunca he vuelto a escuchar. Yo pedía 20 centavos a mi madre y en lugar de tomarme un buen licuado refrescante, echaba 5 centavos para escuchar aquel Rock'n'Roll, que por instinto me parecía la mejor música del mundo.

Los años pasaron, Fidel intervino todo tipo de negocio privado y la rocola desapareció como por arte de magia. Los dueños emigraron a Miami. Nunca supe qué fue de aquel aparato ni quién era aquel grupo musical que tocaba aquella música maravillosa y mágica.

Llegó mi adolescencia y entonces apareció el británico Elton John y todo cambió.

Elton John fue nuestro ídolo de los estudiantes del Pre Universitario Rubén Batista, que escuchábamos la emisora radial americana AFRTS y así nos impregnábamos del Rock’n’roll inglés y de USA cuando la radio cubana no pasaba ninguna de esas canciones.

CARTA A UN CASTRISTA ENCUMBRADO

Deja de utilizar la historia de nuestro prócer de la independencia a favor de los que ahora y antes la oprimían. Martí no necesitaba los medios sociales de comunicación actuales porque es su lucha los tenía: una buena pluma y periódicos que publicaban sus artículos.

Vos que ya no tienes a tu cargo el Ministerio de Cultura y sí el de asuntos martianos, te has plegado a la moda del twitteo como tu jefe Díaz- Canel y otros.

Quiero decirte que el exilio somos tan cubanos como tú y eso no nos lo quita ninguna frase martiana, ni castrista ni tuya . Nacimos es Cuba y seremos cubanos hasta la muerte. La diferencia es que conocemos la Libertad. Si Martí resucitara estaría escoltándonos contra la tiranía que hace 60 años nos oprime. ¿O tratarían de darle un carnet del PCC? Pero el apóstol no era tonto, sabía cuál era la libertad que deseaba para Cuba.

¿Tenés miedo que tu cabeza rueda como la de Robaina, Carlos Lage y Roque? Por eso gritas a favor del oprobio gubernamental. Ere un hombre inteligente. Estás a tiempo para rectificar. Somos muchos los cubanos de la isla y fuera de esta a quienes no nos han engañado tantos años de sufrimiento.

Conociendo sociológicamente y psicológicamente al sistema cubano significa que ahora están desesperados porque se acerca el final, para darles un golpe de rabia a la oposición sobre todo a los cubanos de la diáspora.

Solo se recurre a esos métodos cuando quieren exasperar a sus enemigos, lo bien que está todo y hasta como comen langosta, manjar vedado al pueblo sencillo para exasperar a sus enemigos.

La nueva generación está harta de la esclavitud y ansia la libertad pero no tienen la tradición ni la verdadera valentía de nuestros héroes de la independencia. Solo escapar del país por cualquier medio o viajar al extranjero para traer baratijas que todo cubano ansia.

Y han recurrido a la figura de Fidel Castro porque no tienen nada nuevo que decir. Ahora que el presidente Trump ha endurecido su postura-algo populista pero eficaz- contra el régimen cubano este ha recurrido a un comportamiento de los viejos sistemas dictatoriales: alegría, buena cara y nada de miedo. Cuando por intuición ven como la izquierda de América Latina tambalea. Brasil ha sido el primer ejemplo. Y los dirigentes cubanos ahora saben que se aproxima el final. Todo porque es natural con una población joven que sabe más de la Democracia que las generaciones anteriores pero tienen miedo.

MARIELA CASTRO ríe comiendo langosta ante las cámaras para consumo externo. Pero tienen miedo, mucho miedo, más que nunca, que se acerca el desmoronamiento final.
